Circulaire economie: 100 procent terugwinning polyester
17 December 2015, Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Ioniqa, a clean-tech start-up with a game changing PET (plastic) recycling technology, receives a €2,5M financial loan (“Innovatiekrediet”) from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland), the operational organization from de Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. The funds will be used for R&D and the realization of a 10,000 ton PET-recycling plant in the Netherlands, capable of infinite recycling of all kinds of PET-plastics at competitive price levels.
“The current PET-value chain is a linear process and valuable raw materials are wasted,” claims Tonnis Hooghoudt, CEO of Ioniqa, “With our patented technology Ioniqa is able to recycle all colored PET-waste into new ‘virgin’ PET raw materials, with comparable quality and costs as oil-based produced plastics. This will benefit PET-producers, FMCG’s & Brands and Waste disposal companies and saves scarce resources and our environment.”
About 50 million tons (90%) of the worldwide oil-based PET-plastics (bottles, packaging, filling, apparel, carpets etc) end up in incinerators, landfill and oceans each year. Ioniqa Technologies invented a cost-effective clean tech solution – a Magnetic Smart Recycling Process – for this worldwide PET-waste problem.
